Life is funny sometimes. Dec. 2009 I started doing the Beachbody Insanity program and even though I hurt my shoulder I pushed through and completed the program and I have never been more proud of myself for completing such a brutal program. Then I started P90X but that shoulder injury just persisted. Well it happens that I was born with a bicuspid valve in my heart rather than a tricuspid valve and it appears that the extreme workouts I was doing has made my heart work too hard and surgery is looming.

I have known this all my life but this is something that one is never really ready for. So the doc has said to limit my activity to a moderate 45 minutes on the treadmill. Then something happened with my insurance and my cardiologist I had been seeing for over two years was no longer in my insurance network until their paperwork gets straightened out. Sooooooooooooo I had to see another cardiologist. He told me to STOP all activity except just what I need to do to get through my normal day.

Then he gave me a heart cath test and my arteries are all standing wide open to compensate for the valve problem and to keep my heart from being damaged. I was supposed to go in for a TEE test as well (trans-esophagial echo) but he said he did not want to lower my blood pressure with anesthesia so that test was out. He said that my valve was in the severe stage and if there was still a critical category he would put me in there with a measurement of .635.

Soooooooooooo that was FEb. 16 and I spent time looking for a surgeon (he wanted to send me to a local one). I got one from my heart valve journal surgeon database and he's in Fort Myers and I couldn't make the appointment, my cardiologist had to make the appointment.
It is scheduled for March 23rd.

I'm still checking my insurance website daily to see if my original cardiologist is back in the plan because I really need to have him as my doc. I'm really really hoping that the surgeon can do my surgery soon as I am getting tired very easily and having chest pains.

Just needed to vent as things just take so long and no one gets in a hurry. More later.
